Every property is a sequence of access points.
Locksmith work sits inside a chain that starts at the building and ends in the space you actually use. Select a point to see what it covers.
Building
The outer layer. In Docklands this is often a tower entry, lobby or basement that is controlled by the building rather than by you.
What do you need access to?
Pick the closest match. Each one leads to the information most relevant to that situation.

Homes and apartments.
In Docklands most front doors are apartment doors, sitting inside a building whose lobby and lift you may not control. That changes the conversation from "which lock is best" to "what does this door and this building allow".

Offices, retail and commercial access.
Commercial doors are opened far more often than residential ones, by more people, and they wear accordingly. The useful question is usually which doors genuinely need to be controlled — not how much hardware can be added.
Commercial locksmith work- Offices
- Tenancy entries and internal doors
- Retail
- Glass shopfronts and high door traffic
- Hospitality
- Doors cycling hundreds of times a day
- Property managers
- Key control across changeovers
The lock is only one part of the door.
Most "lock problems" are really door problems. These six layers work together, and when one of them moves, the lock is where you feel it.
Lock
The mechanism driving the bolt and latch, fitted into the door leaf.
The lock, explained.
Five parts do the work. Knowing which one is misbehaving is most of the diagnosis — select any component to see what it does.
Cylinder
The cylinder is the part that reads the key. On many doors the cylinder can be changed without replacing the whole lock, which is why re-keying is sometimes possible.
Schematic only. Actual hardware varies by door.
Standing outside your own door?
It is inconvenient rather than catastrophic, and it is usually resolved methodically. The most useful thing you can do is describe the door and lock accurately, and tell us whether a key exists anywhere at all.
No arrival time or outcome is guaranteed for a door that has not been seen.

Where does your property need more control?
Different access points ask different questions of your hardware. Select a zone on the plan to see what usually matters there.
Front entry
The most used and most considered door. Worth getting right first, because everything else is secondary to it.
Educational plan. Not every access point requires new hardware, and not every security system can be supplied for every door.
From the street to the space you use.
A locksmith's role is managing the middle of this line — the door, the lock and the keys that decide who crosses it.
Public space. No control, and none expected.
Before you call.
Working through this list takes a minute and makes the conversation far quicker. Nothing here is recorded — it is a prompt for you, not a form.
